TRAFFIC OPERATION - HIGH STREET, UPPERMILL |
||
|
Dear Resident.
You may have noticed police activity on High Street, Uppermill yesterday morning (Thursday 23/04/26). This formed part of a joint traffic operation involving your Neighbourhood Policing Team, Oldham’s Tutor Unit, Traffic PCSOs, and the Community Speed Watch Team.
The purpose of this operation was to identify drivers committing moving traffic offences, including exceeding the 20mph speed limit through the village. While the majority of motorists drive responsibly, a small number continue to disregard the limit, posing a significant risk to pedestrians, particularly children walking to school, as well as other road users.
The day resulted in several positive outcomes. Some drivers received advice and education around safer driving, while others were issued Traffic Offence Reports, summonses, or were arrested where offences warranted further action.
We would like to thank residents and visitors for their patience and for the many supportive comments shared with officers throughout the operation.
Your Neighbourhood Team remains committed to keeping the roads across Saddleworth and Lees safe. We encourage you to continue reporting concerns so that future joint operations can focus on the locations and issues that matter most to you.
Kind regards, PS 1650 Holian Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant
